Through out the years music has been a source of enjoyment and inspiration.
It is something that you just can't ignore once it has it's hook in you.
For me the hook was set when I was a child. Music was a big part of
life on the small farm in north central Minnesota where I grew up.
There was always a jam session going on in the living room, or when we would
visit with friends or relatives. Old time music, country music,
and bluegrass could be heard until the wee hours of the morning.
I learned how to play guitar by watching others and listening to records turned
down to a slower speed. I later learned how to play bass after my dad
bought my mother an acoustic bass so she could play in his country/bluegrass band.
At about age 16 I too started to play in the family band. Well, one thing
lead to another, and today I play with
The Platte Valley Boys a traditional bluegrass band that is based in the
Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Songwriting represents the most interesting phase of my music career.
I think it may be the most challenging one, but one that must be done because...
I can't get the hook out !
